You must build personal connections with others in order to become Invaluable in the marketplace. It’s why I list “Connection” among the Six Invaluable factors determining your market worth.

The most profitable people and businesses in the world are highly connected to others. Apple and Zappos are awesome examples of companies that understand the importance of connection.

While is it fairly straightforward to use face-to-face networking to build connections, Internet social media remains a mystery for many. To avoid becoming easily replaceable (the opposite of Invaluable) you must master social media, regardless of your industry, business or job description.

In this two-and-a-half minute video, I share the four social media sites you absolutely MUST be using and participating in, as of July 2010, to build connections.

In the article I show how job security, as we’ve come to think of it, is absolutely dead.
